Welcome to my hot spring. Feel free to laze about in the warm water with frost in your hair, as the snow monkey (a.k.a. Macaca fuscaca, or the Japanese macaque) does.

I lived in the Upper South for three decades or so; now I live in the Upper Midwest. I’m married to ZGirl; her blog is Zen Mama. We’re in the process of trying to adopt a child from China. Our Monkeydog is a six-year-old golden retriever.

My passions in life (and in blogging) include:
* international adoption (see above)
* politics (I’m a liberal and a Democrat)
* the news media (I’m more Daily Show than NPR)
* scary stories and scary movies (from 19th century ghost stories to J-Horror)
* travel (I like to do it and I like to read about it)
